Riyadh: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, extended his congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, following Bahrain's selection to host the 2027 Arab Games for the first time.
According to Bahrain News Agency, HH Shaikh Khalid highlighted that this achievement is a testament to the leadership's support and vision in advancing the sporting sector in Bahrain. He also congratulated His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, for his role in establishing Bahrain as a hub for major sporting events in the region.
HH Shaikh Khalid expressed gratitude to the General Assembly of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees for their confidence in selecting Bahrain, emphasizing that the decision signifies the Kingdom's growing reputation and the leadership's commitment to sports and youth development. He also extended thanks to Saudi Arabia for its successful organization of the General Assembly meetings.
In addition, HH Shaikh Khalid wished Saudi Arabia success in hosting the Sixth Islamic Solidarity Games. He emphasized that Bahrain's hosting of the 2027 Arab Games is a milestone for Bahraini sports, reinforcing the Kingdom's capability to host major international events. He assured that Bahrain will make every effort to deliver an outstanding edition of the Games, promoting Arab solidarity and cooperation.
HH Shaikh Khalid led Bahrain's delegation at the 23rd General Assembly of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees in Riyadh, where he received the official flag of the 2027 Arab Games. This marked Bahrain's formal selection as host of this significant regional sporting event, a decision that was well-received by member states.
The General Assembly also approved several key agenda items, such as legal, financial, and strategic matters, the 2025-2033 strategy of the Union, and the selection of Saudi Arabia as host of the 2031 Arab Games. Additionally, they endorsed the 2025 financial statements, budget, performance report, and future development plans of the Union.
