Abu Dhabi:HE Khalid Humaidan, the Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), participated in the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Climate Forum, held in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The event was organized by the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE).
According to Central Bank Of Bahrain, during his keynote speech, the Governor emphasized the increasing impact of climate change on financial stability. He highlighted the crucial role of central banks and regulatory authorities in enhancing the financial sector's ability to manage climate-related risks and promote sustainable finance practices.
The Governor also discussed Bahrain's commitment to climate action, including its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, alongside other environmental and development objectives. He stressed the importance of regional cooperation and knowledge sharing in creating resilient financial systems and integrating climate considerations into financial policies.
The Climate Forum gathered central bank governors, regulatory authorities, financial institutions, policymakers, and experts to explore the financial effects of climate change and strategies to foster a sustainable economy. The CBUAE Climate Forum serves as a platform for regional cooperation in sustainable finance and climate-related risk management, aiding financial institutions in developing necessary regulatory frameworks and banking practices.
