Bahrain Delegation Engages in Bilateral Meetings at IPU Assembly

Manama:Bahrain's Parliamentary Division delegation, led by Jamal Mohamed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, conducted bilateral meetings with various parliamentary delegations during the 153rd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) held in Tanzania from October 5 to 9.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meetings were focused on garnering support for Bahrain's proposed emergency item related to maritime navigation security and international straits. This proposal was highlighted for its significance to international peace, security, global trade, and economic stability.

Jamal Mohamed Fakhro engaged with Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan; Alicia Kearns from the United Kingdom delegation; Edin Ðerlek, Deputy Speaker of Serbia's National Assembly; and Jacob Mudenda, Speaker of Zimbabwe's Parliament.

The discussions emphasized enhancing bilateral parliamentary relations, increasing coordination and consultation, and exchanging expertise. Furthermore, the meetings aimed to strengthen relations and coordinate positions on both regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The delegation also included Shura Council member Hala Ramzy Fayez, Deputy Head of Bahrain's Parliamentary Division, along with MPs Hassan Ibrahim Hassan and Zainab Abdulameer Khalil.
