Amman: Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Director-General of the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, received Stephanie Hallett, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Bahrain, during her visit to the Open Prisons Complex, as part of efforts to enhance cooperation, exchange expertise and review the latest developments in the Open Prisons Programme.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid highlighted the deep-rooted relations and strategic partnership between Bahrain and the United States, as well as the continued cooperation between the two countries across various domains.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the Open Prisons Programme and the programmes and initiatives implemented to support beneficiaries and enhance their reintegration into society. It also discussed topics of common interest and means to continue exchanging expertise and benefiting from best practices.
Ambassador Hallett toured the facilities of the Open Prisons Complex and was briefed on its facilities, services and programmes provided to beneficiaries, as well as the integrated environment they provide to support the development of their skills and enhance their readiness to return to and participate positively in society.
The meeting also reviewed cooperation with specialised US institutions, including the American Correctional Association (ACA), through which the Open Prisons Programme became the first entity outside the United States to receive ACA accreditation. The achievement reflects the programme's commitment to applying advanced international standards and practices.
At the conclusion of the visit, Ambassador Hallett commended the developments in the Open Prisons Programme and the programmes provided to beneficiaries. Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid underscored the importance of continuing Bahrain-US cooperation and the exchange of expertise to support the development of programmes and initiatives and strengthen pathways for reintegration into society.
