Civil Defence Launches Safety Awareness Campaign for Drivers

Manama: The General Directorate of Civil Defence conducted an awareness campaign targeting vehicle drivers to promote a culture of prevention and safety, raise awareness of safety measures, and reduce vehicle-related risks and accidents.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Brigadier Ali Mohammed Al Kubaisi, Director General of Civil Defence, stated that the campaign included providing advice and guidance on the importance of conducting regular vehicle inspections and ensuring the safety of tyres and essential vehicle systems. Additionally, the campaign aimed to raise awareness regarding the correct use of fire extinguishers.

Brigadier Al Kubaisi explained that the campaign also focused on how to respond to emergencies, particularly in cases of smoke or a vehicle fire. Drivers were advised to stop in a safe location, switch off the engine, evacuate the vehicle immediately, and call the emergency services on 999. He emphasized that a fire extinguisher should only be used if the fire is small and it is safe to do so.

The Director General noted that the campaign forms part of the Directorate's ongoing efforts to promote prevention, strengthen community partnership, and raise awareness of safe practices that contribute to protecting lives and property. He emphasized that safety is a shared responsibility that begins with awareness and is reinforced through commitment.
