Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, candidate of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana for the post of United Nations Secretary-General, during her visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting reviewed Bahrain-Guyana bilateral ties and their continued development in areas of mutual interest, in support of the shared interests of the two countries and their peoples. Rodrigues-Birkett briefed the Minister on her campaign programme and vision for her candidacy for the post of UN Secretary-General for the next term.
Dr. Al Zayani underscored the importance of the UN Secretary-General's active role in advancing the Organisation's efforts to promote global development and prosperity and safeguard international peace and security. Hatem Abdulhamid Hatem, Chief of International Organisations Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the meeting.
