Criminal Investigation Directorate Organises Trafficking in Persons Training Course

Manama: The Anti-Human Trafficking and Public Morals Protection Directorate at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science has organised the sixth training course for frontline personnel. This initiative was conducted in cooperation with the Public Prosecution and the Protection and Grievances Centre of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).

According to Bahrain News Agency, the course brought together 30 participants from various Ministry of Interior directorates and relevant entities. It is part of efforts to strengthen national capabilities in combating trafficking in persons, in line with recommendations from the US State Department report.

The programme included key topics such as Bahrain's efforts to promote human rights, the definition and elements of trafficking in persons, identification of victims, protection procedures, and legal safeguards under national legislation. It also highlighted the role of the Public Prosecution in combating the crime, along with the efforts of the LMRA in protecting victims and handling related complaints.

The course also addressed the role of awareness and media in preventing trafficking crimes, as well as common fraud and deception methods used by perpetrators on social media platforms to recruit and exploit victims.

The directorate reaffirmed its commitment to continuing specialised training programmes in cooperation with national partners, aimed at enhancing frontline capacities and supporting national efforts to combat trafficking in persons and protect victims' rights.
