Justice Minister Chairs Inaugural Meeting of Council of Islamic Endowments Affairs

Manama: The Council of Islamic Endowments Affairs held its first meeting, chaired by Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Ma'awda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments and Chairman of the Council. Minister Al Ma'awda extended his sincere congratulations to the Deputy Chairmen and members on receiving the Royal confidence of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on their appointment to the first formation of the Council of Islamic Endowments Affairs. He wished them success in fulfilling their national responsibilities.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Justice Minister emphasised the importance of the Council's role in supporting and developing the endowments sector and enhancing its contribution to sustainable development, in a manner that achieves the objectives of endowments, preserves their assets and develops their resources in accordance with Islamic law and the conditions of donors.

The Council discussed topics related to establishing frameworks and general policies governing the endowments sector, contributing to the sustainability of endowments, developing the endowment system and improving its efficiency, as well as strengthening governance, compliance and institutional integration, and enhancing capacity building in the endowments field.

It also reviewed approaches to developing the regulatory environment of the endowments sector and updating related procedures and systems, in order to support best administrative, financial practices in accordance with Islamic law, and to enhance the efficiency of managing and investing endowment assets in a manner that serves the public interest.
