Abu dhabi: MP Lulwa Ali Al Rumaihi took part in the second edition of the Women Parliamentarians Forum of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), which was organized by the Federal National Council (FNC) in the United Arab Emirates.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the forum was held under the theme "Empowering Women for Cohesive and Inclusive Societies: From the Gulf to the Mediterranean." Al Rumaihi highlighted the Kingdom's commitment to investing in women under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. She stressed that empowering women in decision-making roles is crucial for comprehensive development, societal stability, and institutional cohesion.
Al Rumaihi emphasized the importance of empowering women in education, health, and environmental sustainability, noting that these areas serve as pillars for building cohesive, resilient, and just societies in the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions. She called for deeper partnerships with women and for broader participation in shaping developmental, social, and environmental policies.
She also underscored the institutional role of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King. The SCW acts as the national framework coordinating policies, strengthening partnerships, and linking women's empowerment programs to measurable outcomes. Al Rumaihi detailed Bahraini women's contributions to education policy and innovation, leadership in the health sector, and initiatives in environmental sustainability, including renewable energy, recycling, and urban agriculture.
