Azerbaijani Delegation Explores Digital Advances in Bahrain’s Council of Representatives


Manama: A delegation from the Secretariat General of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan, led by Farid Hajiyev, Chief of Staff of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, participated in a detailed programme focused on digital transformation projects, the green parliament, and the integration of artificial intelligence in parliamentary operations. This visit to the Kingdom was part of their ongoing parliamentary activities.



According to Bahrain News Agency, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives, was present during the visit. The delegation viewed an introductory video showcasing the Council’s achievements and its legislative and oversight roles. Ghassan Ibrahim Maki, an expert in Quality Development and Assurance, provided an in-depth presentation on the Green Parliament and environmental sustainability initiatives. The Secretariat General’s attainment of ISO 14001:2015 certification for the Environmental Management System was highlighted, marking the Council as the first parliament globally to receive this accolade.



The Azerbaijani delegation was also briefed on the incorporation of artificial intelligence within parliamentary work, with the Secretariat General being among the first legislative bodies worldwide to achieve ISO 42001:2023 certification for the Artificial Intelligence Management System. Jassim Al Gannas, Director of the Information Technology Directorate, elaborated on the digital transformation efforts at the Council, emphasizing the role of electronic systems in enhancing legislative efficiency, conserving resources, and streamlining research and data access. He detailed the functionalities of electronic minutes and the interactive eMeeting++ systems.



The visiting delegation praised the Council of Representatives for its innovative approaches and international accomplishments in digital transformation, green parliament initiatives, and artificial intelligence. They emphasized the value of learning from successful models and the importance of ongoing collaboration and knowledge exchange to bolster the relationship between the Council of Representatives and the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan.
