Bahrain Hosts International Public Health Conference Featuring Experts and Specialists

Manama: The Bahrain International Public Health Conference and Exhibition commenced at the Gulf Convention Centre in Gulf Hotel, organized by the Public Health Directorate at the Ministry of Health from November 6 to 7. The event gathered experts, specialists, and researchers from Bahrain and Gulf Cooperation Council countries, alongside the Gulf Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, with the presence of senior officials.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, emphasized that Bahrain's hosting of the conference demonstrates the Kingdom's commitment to advancing healthcare, fostering scientific dialogue, and promoting expertise exchange on a regional and international level. These initiatives aim to enhance sustainable health security.

Dr. Shaikh Mohammed highlighted that the conference serves as a platform for unifying efforts and developing effective health policies, noting that public health is critical for societal defence and investment in human capital, aligning with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030. He acknowledged the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and directives from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, which reflect Bahrain's dedication to advancing the healthcare sector.

The participation of international speakers and experts underscores Bahrain's position as a hub for regional health dialogue, contributing to building resilient health systems. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Health's efforts in organizing the event to address pressing health issues.

Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, stated that the conference, supported by the King and Crown Prince, reflects Bahrain's commitment to developing the healthcare sector and its role in sustainable national development. She noted the conference's focus on preventive healthcare and ensuring health security for society, with outcomes expected to advance national health policies.

Dr. Samya Bahram, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health and Chairperson of the conference, noted the event's organization in response to global public health challenges, including chronic and infectious diseases, mental health, and environmental pressures. The conference aims to enhance cooperation through scientific sessions and workshops.

The event seeks to develop strategic recommendations to reinforce Bahrain's position as a leading regional hub for public health and disease prevention, enhance national workforce capacities, and support sustainable development goals. The conference features a scientific program with over 50 lectures, 16 accredited educational hours, and workshops on preventive health, health planning, global health security, and modern technologies in public health.
