HM King: Press and Digital Media Law Marks Important Milestone in Modernising Legislative Framework

Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa stated that the Press and Digital Media Law signifies a significant milestone in Bahrain's continuous efforts to modernise and enhance its legislative and institutional frameworks. The law reflects Bahrain's progressive approach, which supports the development of national journalism and media, strengthens their constructive role in nation-building, and safeguards the rights of journalists and media professionals.

According to Bahrain News Agency, His Majesty extended congratulations to all members of the press and media, acknowledging the new law's role in enabling them to work with increased efficiency, ease, and professionalism. His Majesty expressed gratitude for the collaboration between the Government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the Legislative Authority in enacting the Press, Printing and Publishing Law. This collaboration aims to fortify the sector and recognise the contributions of its practitioners to the nation and society.

His Majesty further expressed appreciation for the dedicated citizens engaged in journalism and digital media for their efforts in spreading awareness and knowledge. He took pride in the status of journalism in the Kingdom and the contributions of its pioneers and successive generations, who serve as a beacon of thought and enlightenment.

His Majesty reiterated Bahrain's firm commitment to upholding freedom of opinion and expression and to enhancing the national and constructive role of the national press and media. This commitment recognises the press and media as a key pillar and an active partner in supporting sustainable development, highlighting national achievements, informing society, and raising public awareness.
