King Hamad Leadership Programme Opens Registration for Youth

MANAMA: Registration has commenced for the King Hamad Leadership for Peaceful Coexistence Programme, an initiative aimed at equipping Bahraini youth with leadership and cognitive skills essential for fostering respect, coexistence, and human fraternity. The programme is spearheaded by the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence and seeks to cultivate a generation of leaders dedicated to peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, has underscored the programme's alignment with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The programme is a testament to Bahrain's commitment to being a model for dialogue and mutual understanding among various religions and cultures.

The initiative is being implemented in partnership with Faith in Leadership and the 1928 Institute, affiliated with Oxford University. This collaboration follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed in August in London. The programme aims to equip participants with academic training and professional tools, enabling them to become ambassadors of peace and effectively address issues such as religious hate speech, racism, and disputes through peaceful means.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed highlighted the programme's role in developing leadership skills and enhancing global understanding. Over the next four years, the programme will enroll 100 participants, with 25 students being admitted annually. These participants will benefit from international best practices in promoting shared values.

The programme also aligns with the vision of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. It exemplifies efforts to position Bahrain as a global example of peaceful coexistence and cultural respect.

Bahraini youth interested in participating can apply through the centre's website, khgc.org.bh, from January 2 to 31. Further details and admission requirements are available on the site.
