Manama: The General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing has concluded 2025 by meeting the requirements of the Innovation Management System (ISO 56001:2024), marking it as the first entity in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the first security authority worldwide to implement the system according to its approved standards.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Director-General of the General Directorate, emphasized that this achievement reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to strengthen institutional work and promote sustainable development, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He also highlighted directives from General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, to advance development initiatives to improve institutional performance.

Shaikh Khalid noted that meeting the ISO 56001:2024 requirements is a significant step in adopting innovation as a structured approach to policy and service development, enhancing the quality of outputs related to the directorate's mandates. The system provides an internationally recognized framework for managing innovation sustainably through governance, leadership support, and integration of planning and continuous improvement, contributing to institutional efficiency.

He also stated that the directorate plans to build on this achievement by further developing its institutional innovation framework to enhance performance and support Bahrain's adoption of international practices.

Hassan Isa Al Sharqi, Managing Director at Qplus Inspection and Quality Solutions, remarked that this achievement was made possible through professional cooperation with the General Directorate. He noted that applying ISO 56001:2024 in a security authority sets a precedent, demonstrating that innovation can be managed through structured systems, even in sensitive sectors.

Al Sharqi explained that Qplus provided technical and consultancy support through an integrated process, including gap analysis, development of the innovation framework, formulation of policies, capacity building, and aligning innovation with strategic objectives.

ISO 56001:2024 is one of the latest standards from the International Organisation for Standardisation, aiming to support organizations in systematically managing innovation by transforming ideas into measurable value, enhancing institutional performance and adaptability.
