Manama: The University of Bahrain (UoB) Board of Trustees held its third regular meeting of 2026, chaired by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board, with the participation of board members and invited attendees via video conference.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Education Minister highlighted the university's achievement in the 2026 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, commending the efforts of the Board of Trustees, the university's administration, and its staff in securing international recognition.
The board reviewed the latest developments related to the university's construction projects, as well as agreements and memoranda of understanding signed during the second quarter of 2026 with local, regional, and international institutions. It also reviewed the steps taken to activate these partnerships and maximise their benefits in academic, research, and training areas.
Additionally, the board discussed a proposal to establish a College of Design and reviewed the measures taken by the university to improve its position in global university rankings.
The board also examined a comprehensive report on cooperation projects and partnerships concluded between November 2025 and June 2026 with government, academic, and industrial institutions in Bahrain and abroad. The partnerships contributed to supporting scientific research, developing academic programmes, enhancing practical training, and expanding innovation, sustainability, and community service initiatives in line with the university's national, regional, and international objectives.
The meeting concluded with the approval of recommendations submitted by the university to further develop academic and research programmes across its colleges.
