Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Korea engaged in discussions to enhance strategic cooperation in the sectors of energy, nuclear power, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and advanced technologies.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions occurred during a meeting between Sharif Al Olama, the Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE, and Kim Jung-kwan, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea.
The dialogue focused on leveraging the success of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant by exploring novel areas of collaboration, including advanced nuclear technologies and Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), aimed at bolstering the international standing of both nations in the nuclear energy sector.
The meeting also covered discussions on the future of global energy security and emphasized the need for resilient and diversified energy systems capable of adapting to rapid changes. The two parties explored further cooperation opportunities in oil and gas, refining, petrochemicals, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and energy infrastructure.
