Riyadh: Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), visited the King Fahad National Library. Dr. Shaikh Abdullah was welcomed by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Special Adviser to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Fahad National Library.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the visit included the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Derasat and the King Fahad National Library. This MoU was signed by Abdulla Mohamed Alahmed, Chief Executive Officer of Derasat, and Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Hammoudi, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the King Fahad National Library. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in support of research and knowledge communities by covering aspects such as knowledge and scientific cooperation, exchange of professional expertise, and development of joint training plans and programmes.
The MoU is a step forward in strengthening intellectual and knowledge cooperation between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, facilitating scientific research, and documenting history and knowledge development. During the visit, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah honored HRH Prince Faisal bin Salman with an honorary fellowship from Derasat for his support in knowledge and scientific research.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and praised the King Fahad National Library's efforts in preserving and promoting intellectual works. HRH Prince Faisal highlighted that the MoU represents an exemplary integration between institutions committed to knowledge preservation and accessibility.
The King Fahad National Library, as Saudi Arabia's national library, focuses on collecting, organising, and promoting national intellectual works and heritage materials, and collaborates with libraries and institutions both within the country and internationally.
