TRA Publishes 2025 Compliance Priorities Program Scorecard, Highlights Regulatory Compliance in Bahrain’s Telecom Sector

Manama: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has published the 2025 Compliance Priorities Program Scorecard, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing consumer protection, promoting transparency, and strengthening regulatory compliance across Bahrain's telecommunications sector.According to Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, the scorecard assesses the performance of Bahrain's licensed mobile operators Batelco, stc Bahrain, and Zain Bahrain against key consumer protection requirements. The assessment was conducted through independent mystery shopping, covering six priority areas: consumer protection and regulatory compliance, roaming, number portability, transparency of retail service packages, billing transparency, and contract summaries.The assessment demonstrated a high level of compliance across the sector, with Batelco and stc Bahrain each achieving an overall score of 92%, while Zain Bahrain achieved 87%. All three operators recorded full compliance in Number Portability and Contract Summaries, with strong performance also observed in Roaming. The assessment also identified opportunities for further improvement, particularly in enhancing the transparency of retail service packages and the clarity of billing information.Commenting on the publication of the scorecard, Mr. Philip Marnick, General Director of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, emphasized the importance of protecting consumers and promoting high standards of regulatory compliance. He stated that the Scorecard provides valuable insight into operators' performance, drives continuous improvement, and helps to ensure transparency and accountability.
