Manama: Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi, the Minister of Tourism, chaired the board meeting of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA). The meeting focused on reviewing BTEA’s significant achievements in 2024, alongside discussing action plans and priorities for the current year as part of the 2022-2026 tourism strategy, with the aim of boosting the sector’s contribution to Bahrain’s GDP.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions during the meeting covered a wide array of topics, including licensing updates, business development, and tourism performance indicators. The board also examined major tourism projects and the economic outcomes from the Bahrain Festive Season 2024, as well as updates on wedding events scheduled for 2024-2025.
The Minister highlighted the importance of sustained efforts and collaboration with public and private sector partners. She noted the positive tourism indicators from the Bahrain Festive Season 2024 and their critical role in meeting the strategy’s objectives. Furthermore, she stressed the significance of new initiatives and projects that bolster Bahrain’s cultural and historical attractions, thereby enhancing the Kingdom’s position in regional and international tourism.
Al Sairafi also commended Bahrain’s advanced tourism infrastructure and reiterated the commitment to diversifying tourism offerings. The focus will be on attracting visitors from key target markets and building on past sector achievements to further develop the tourism industry in Bahrain.
