Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa at Al Sakhir Palace, accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Shaikh Nasser, who is the Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bapco Energies, was joined by CEOs of companies under the Bapco Energies group, which is spearheading Bahrain’s transition in the energy sector.
According to Bahrain News Agency, His Majesty the King acknowledged the pivotal role played by HH Shaikh Nasser in promoting Bahrain’s energy sector. He praised the advancements made in the energy transition across the companies involved, noting significant improvements in operational efficiency, sustainability, and safety throughout 2023. The King emphasized that these achievements align with the objectives of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, marking 2023 as a year of remarkable success for the strategic sector.
His Majesty highlighted the strategic project undertaken by Bapco Refining to modernize its refinery, which aims to increase production capacity and enhance competitiveness in the oil refining industry. He also praised the global presence and competitiveness of the Bapco Energies group, emphasizing their ability to attract investors and establish impactful partnerships that contribute significantly to the sector’s development.
King Hamad commended the companies’ commitment to nurturing young Bahraini talent across both genders, expressing confidence in Bahraini professionals’ capability to adapt to the evolving sector demands. He underscored the importance of training and equipping young Bahrainis, who are considered a cornerstone of development within this strategic sector and other economic areas.
During the meeting, HH Shaikh Nasser presented a detailed report on Bapco Energies’ achievements over the past year. He highlighted major accomplishments and strategic partnerships, emphasizing the significance of Bapco Refining’s historic project to modernize its refinery, which began operations at the end of 2024.
Shaikh Nasser also commended the success of the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) in enhancing operations, strengthening global partnerships, and signing key agreements. He noted the progress made in supporting Bahraini professionals, training programs, and empowering women in leadership roles. Additionally, he mentioned the record-breaking achievements and global awards received for compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
Expressing gratitude for the support from His Majesty the King and the government, led by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Shaikh Nasser emphasized the government’s role in addressing challenges and supporting company growth. He highlighted that the energy sector is set for further advancements this year, reinforcing its sustainability as a cornerstone of Bahrain’s national economy.
