San diego: The Survey and Land Registration Bureau received the 2026 Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award in the Land Records/Cadastre industry for its geospatial platform, during the Esri User Conference 2026 in San Diego, United States of America. The conference brought together more than 18,000 technology, innovation, and GIS leaders and specialists from more than 100 countries.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the SAG Award is one of the world's leading awards in GIS. It is presented annually to organizations from around the world in recognition of their achievements in using GIS and developing innovative applications and solutions in the field.
Basem bin Yaqoub Al Hamar, President of the Survey and Land Registration Bureau, said the achievement reflects the continued support for digital transformation and innovation in the Kingdom of Bahrain under the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This has contributed to creating a national environment that encourages innovation and enables government entities to develop advanced digital solutions in line with international best practices.
Al Hamar said the achievement reflects the advanced capabilities of national talent in geospatial data and digital innovation, commending the efforts of the specialized team that developed the geospatial platform over the past two years based on innovation, data integration, and the use of the latest technologies, contributing to the development of an advanced system in line with international best practices.
He noted that the geospatial platform is one of the bureau's strategic projects. It aims to develop geospatial data infrastructure and provide advanced solutions for various government entities through an integrated system that enables real-time data exchange and updates, helping improve government efficiency and support planning and decision-making.
The platform provides a range of advanced technologies and services, including three-dimensional geographic data, digital twinning, virtual field exploration, spatial analysis tools, and direct electronic connectivity, as well as the use of artificial intelligence technologies for data search and analysis, enhancing the use of spatial information in planning and development.
