Manama:The Supreme Council for Environment has upgraded its service for renewing chemical import and use licences, as part of the government's efforts to enhance service quality and streamline procedures.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the new system allows licensed establishments to renew their environmental licences annually, meeting the council's requirements. Licences that qualify will now be automatically renewed, replacing the previous five-working-day processing period.
The enhancements include a reduction of the service-level agreement by at least 25%, simplifying procedures, and improving the user interface and experience. Existing systems have been upgraded, and electronic application forms have been introduced, with service information standardized across all channels.
Amina Hamad Al Rumaihi, Chief Executive of the Supreme Council for Environment, stated that the development demonstrates the council's dedication to offering more efficient and accessible services by automating renewals for licences that meet approved criteria. She emphasized the importance of continuous service development to boost institutional efficiency, modernize regulatory procedures, and utilize digital technologies for better environmental oversight and service delivery.
This initiative is part of broader government efforts to enhance and re-engineer public services. Over 1,300 government services have been documented, translated, and published, with 800 undergoing development and re-engineering across various sectors.
The improvements have been influenced by feedback from the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul), investor feedback, and mystery shopper reports. Additionally, the government has introduced guidance manuals and service-level agreements to streamline procedures, improve service quality, enhance user experience, and support digital transformation.
