Social Development Minister Highlights Significance of International Day of Peaceful Coexistence: Bahrain

Manama: Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, stated that the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence, observed annually on January 28, represents a global occasion to renew commitment to human values based on tolerance, mutual respect, and the promotion of understanding among societies. The minister highlighted that this day serves as a reminder of the importance of these values in fostering global unity.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the international designation of the day stemmed from a Bahraini initiative launched by the King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance. This initiative reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The minister underscored Bahrain's consistent approach to embedding the principles of tolerance and coexistence as essential elements for societal stability and sustainable development.

Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi further emphasised that Bahrain has, throughout its history, promoted a model based on pluralism, tolerance, and openness. He noted that this approach highlights the role of coexistence in supporting social and humanitarian development. The minister reiterated that the Ministry of Social Development, in cooperation with relevant entities, continues to implement programmes and initiatives aimed at strengthening social cohesion and reinforcing the values of coexistence, solidarity, and mutual support.
