Manama: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, strongly condemned the Iranian missile attack targeting an ADNOC oil tanker while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz, describing it as a flagrant violation of international law and international maritime law, and a serious threat to maritime navigation and energy supplies.
According to Bahrain News Agency, in a cable to Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates, Al Saleh reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain's full solidarity with the UAE and its support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, stability, and vital interests. He emphasised that the security and stability of the UAE are an integral part of Bahrain's security and stability.
The Chairman called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take measures to protect maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and other vital waterways, ensure the safety of commercial vessels, and ensure that Iran complies with international law, reopens the Strait of Hormuz, and refrains from interfering with commercial shipping.
Al Saleh also emphasised the commitment of the Shura Council and the UAE Federal National Council to further strengthening parliamentary cooperation and coordination in support of bilateral relations and shared interests.
