SCW Launches Women in Media Committee

Manama: In line with Decision (6) of 2025 issued by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Lulwa Al Awadhi, SCW Secretary-General, issued Decision (24) of 2025 naming the members of the newly formed Women in Media Committee. The Committee aims to highlight the successes and efforts of Bahraini women and enhance their visibility in the media both domestically and internationally.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee will be chaired by Hisham Abu Alfateh and will include representatives from various entities such as Bahrain TV, Bahrain Radio, National Communication Centre (NCC), Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA), Bahrain Public Relations Society, UOB College of Media, a social media influencer, and a representative of the SCW General Secretariat.

The committee is tasked with implementing the objectives outlined in Article 3 of Decision (6) of 2025. These tasks include studying the current situation of women in the media field, analyzing media content related to women in television programs, dramas, and other audiovisual, print, and digital platforms, and proposing tools for coordination and cooperation with media institutions. The committee will also propose training, education, and awareness programs aimed at developing the skills of women working and leading in the media field.

Membership in the committee is set for a term of two years, with meetings to be held periodically at the chairman's request. The committee is authorized to seek assistance from individuals with relevant expertise and specialization, both from within and outside the General Secretariat, to contribute to its meetings, provide insights, or supply necessary information for its operations.
