Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, highlighted the accomplishments of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in instituting democracy in Bahrain as a strategic approach that fortifies public participation within a constitutional framework.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam, speaking on the occasion of the International Day of Democracy, emphasized that the National Action Charter, which garnered national consensus, acts as a social contract uniting the people of Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty the King. He underscored the pivotal role of the Kingdom's Constitution in driving development across political, economic, and social sectors, noting that Bahrain's democratic system evolves under the rule of law and institutions.
The Speaker pointed out that this approach has enabled Bahrain to achieve a prominent international standing, effectively balancing tradition with modernity and aligning national values with contemporary demands. Al Musallam expressed gratitude for the democratic process support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who is committed to implementing the royal vision through policies that enhance transparency, national participation, and legislative authority's role in development.
He highlighted that the rule of law, robust institutions, and responsible freedoms are crucial to Bahrain's stability and prosperity. He noted the independent judiciary, free media, and active civil society form an integrated system making Bahrain a regional exemplar of democratic practice, emphasizing pluralism and national unity protection.
