Linz: As part of the national afforestation campaign "Forever Green", the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) organised a tree-planting event at Linz Lighthouse Rehabilitation Centre, with support from Bahrain Branch Nursery. The launch took place at the centre in the presence of Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of NIAD; Maheen Al Wazzan, founder and owner of Linz Lighthouse; and the nursery's owners, Amal Al Sayegh and Yousif Al Haddad. Trees and shrubs were planted at the entrance of the centre to enhance its surroundings and add greenery to the site.
According to Bahrain News Agency, a second planting site will be set up in Andalus Garden, where vegetable and herb beds will be created for the benefit of students of determination at the centre. Shaikha Maram bint Isa said the initiative supports national efforts to expand green areas, promote environmental sustainability, and spread agricultural awareness in the community. She praised the private sector's role in supporting environmental and community projects.
Al Wazzan said the project aims to create a sustainable and healthy environment for students, encouraging care for nature and interest in agriculture. She added that the vegetables and greens grown will be used in preparing healthy meals for students, expressing thanks to Bahrain Branch Nursery for its support.
