NHRA Enhances Medical Device Classification Process

Accra:The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) has announced significant improvements to its standard medical device classification service. These changes include reducing the processing time for applications from ten to five working days and cutting the required documentation from nine to three documents. The process has also been streamlined to three steps.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the upgraded service allows applicants to submit classification requests through the Madar electronic system, simplifying procedures and improving efficiency. This upgrade includes enhanced digital systems, a more user-friendly interface, and consistent service information across all channels.

Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Ansari, CEO of NHRA, stated that this upgrade would facilitate the registration of medical devices and supplies, accelerate decisions on classification applications, and contribute to digital transformation aligned with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030. He emphasized the authority's commitment to improving service efficiency and reducing the effort required by institutions.

The enhancement is part of a broader government initiative to improve public services and streamline procedures. Over 1,300 government services have been documented, translated, and published, with 800 reviewed and redesigned. These improvements were informed by feedback from the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul), investor feedback, and mystery shopper reports. The government has also introduced service guides and service-level agreements to further improve efficiency and raise service standards.
