New Scholarship Initiative Launched for Bahraini Students

Manama:His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), presided over a Council meeting that focused on new educational opportunities for Bahraini youth.

According to Bahrain News Agency, His Highness emphasized the importance of investing in Bahraini youth, considering it a national responsibility. He welcomed the "Nasser bin Hamad Scholarship," launched by the Academic Excellence Association, which aims to provide outstanding Bahraini students with opportunities to study at prestigious universities worldwide. This initiative is designed to develop highly qualified national talent, essential for sustaining excellence and the Kingdom's development.

The scholarship will be coordinated with selected educational institutions and relevant embassies to prepare necessary agreements and include it in international university platforms. It offers annual opportunities for Bahraini youth to pursue studies in fields aligned with labor market needs, promoting academic excellence and equipping students with essential knowledge and skills.

Maha Abdulhameed Mufeez, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), introduced the "Career World" platform, launched by Skills Bahrain in June 2026. This national digital career guidance platform provides comprehensive information on occupations, academic specializations, required skills, and wage levels in Bahrain's labor market. It aims to help young people make informed educational and career decisions.

The Council also reviewed the "Hope Talents" platform, which identifies talented Bahraini youth and connects them with development opportunities. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad directed the expansion of this platform's reach and the development of automated systems to track and update youth profiles, linking them with employment opportunities.

Additionally, the Council discussed criteria for selecting youth role models in volunteer work to promote positive values and inspiring examples among young people. The proposal will be implemented on a pilot basis in cooperation with several youth organizations.

The meeting concluded with a directive from His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad to continue efforts to implement the meeting's outcomes into actionable programs, ensuring that Bahraini youth have pathways to develop their capabilities and contribute to the nation.
