Manama: Agriculture and Animal Wealth Affairs Undersecretary Asim Abdullatif Abdullah has emphasized the commitment of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture to enhance oversight and regulation within the food and halal products sector, aiming to elevate quality and compliance standards. This initiative is designed to benefit consumers, bolster national businesses, and support the quality and competitiveness of Bahraini products.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Decision (125) of 2026 concerning the National Halal Mark and its licensing requirements is a pivotal step in regulating Bahrain's halal product sector. This decision seeks to bolster consumer confidence in products bearing the mark both locally and internationally.
Undersecretary Abdullah highlighted that the decision provides a well-defined legal and regulatory framework for the National Halal Mark's use, ensuring it is applied only to products meeting approved standards. This framework aims to enhance trust and transparency within the halal products market by regulating the mark's use.
He further stated that regulating the National Halal Mark would enhance Bahraini products' competitiveness and reinforce their presence in regional and international markets. By providing a trusted identity for products that meet halal requirements, the mark is expected to increase their commercial value and facilitate access to foreign markets.
To obtain a license, businesses must be registered in the commercial register, specify the halal products they wish to use the mark on, and secure a halal certificate from recognized halal auditing bodies. Applicants are also required to demonstrate compliance with the supervision and oversight system and declare the annual production volume of products intended for the National Halal Mark.
