Manama: Nasser Center for Science and Technology (NCST), in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), has launched a Cybersecurity Lab at its headquarters in Khalifa City. This initiative is aimed at supporting Bahrain's national efforts to bolster cybersecurity and train skilled personnel to safeguard the nation's digital infrastructure. The project aligns with Bahrain's Vision 2030, secure digital transformation, and the national cybersecurity strategy.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the lab provides advanced training with realistic simulations to equip trainees with the necessary skills to counter cyber threats and develop incident response plans. This initiative is designed to prepare qualified personnel to defend digital infrastructure and support regional and international cybersecurity advancements.
Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, CEO of the NCSC, emphasized that the lab's launch is a crucial step in developing national capabilities and enhancing institutional cooperation to address digital challenges. He highlighted that this effort reflects a commitment to the national cybersecurity strategy and secure digital transformation.
Dr. Abdulla Nasser Al Nuaimi, CEO of the NCST, stated that the lab showcases the centre's dedication to advancing education and technology by providing a modern training environment to tackle current security challenges. He added that the lab supports national digital security by preparing Bahraini experts to shield institutions from cyber risks and promote technological innovation through practical training and professional simulations.
The lab's inaugural programme was a specialized workshop focused on building cybersecurity skills, featuring practical cloud security training using AWS and Terraform. National experts from strategic sectors such as energy, transport, telecommunications, health, and finance participated. Organizations involved included the Information and eGovernment Authority, Supreme Council of Health, Bapco Energy, Bayan - Batelco, Bahrain Kuwait Bank, and Bahrain Airport Company.
The NCST remains committed to supporting Bahrain's knowledge economy through advanced technical and educational initiatives, aiming to prepare a confident, skilled future generation to lead the digital transformation and achieve leadership's vision. The centre aspires to establish the Kingdom as a regional hub for cybersecurity and technology sciences.
