Paris: Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, engaged in a significant dialogue with Emmanuelle Soubeyran, Director General of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). This interaction occurred during the 93rd General Session of WOAH in Paris, where the minister attended to discuss critical issues.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting concentrated on enhancing member states' capacities, fostering international cooperation in animal health, and promoting the exchange of technical expertise. The discussions also included global developments concerning animal and zoonotic diseases, alongside strategies to bolster preparedness and response mechanisms.
The minister praised WOAH's role in aiding member states and advancing veterinary health systems, which supports global food security and public health. He emphasized Bahrain's commitment to building upon achievements in national food security by developing veterinary services, enhancing prevention and health monitoring systems, and supporting international efforts to tackle challenges related to animal and zoonotic diseases. These actions contribute to public health protection and food sustainability.
Additionally, the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture engaged in meetings with agriculture ministers from various countries. These meetings aimed to enhance cooperation, develop partnerships, and share expertise in agriculture, veterinary services, and food security. Notably, the minister met with Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak from the UAE, Saeb Abdulhaleem Al Khreisha from Jordan, David Songulashvili from Georgia, and Luis Planas Puchades from Spain.
