Bahrain’s Parliamentary Delegation Engages in Arab Parliamentary Scouts Union General Assembly

Rabat: The parliamentary division delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain participated in the opening session of the 18th General Assembly meeting of the Arab Parliamentary Scouts Union, held in the Kingdom of Morocco.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bahraini delegation included MP Mohammed Jassim Al Alawi, head of the delegation, Redha Ibrahim Monfaredi, and MP Jalal Kadhim Al Mahfoudh. The opening ceremony featured addresses by the Speaker of Morocco’s House of Councillors, the Moroccan Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament, and the President of the Arab Parliamentary Scouts Union, in addition to honouring a number of former members of the union.

In his address during the meeting, MP Mohammed Jassim Al Alawi affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, remains committed to supporting joint Arab action and promoting security, stability, development, and prosperity.

He stressed that the challenges facing the region today require collective coordination and a unified vision based on strengthening integration, exchanging expertise, and consolidating efforts. Al Alawi noted that recent developments in the region, and the hostile acts and attacks targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain, the GCC states, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan by the Islamic Republic of Iran, have shown that national security can no longer be confined to military dimensions or conventional security measures.

He emphasised that national security has become an integrated system that begins with building an informed and aware individual, capable of discernment and grounded in national belonging and social responsibility, ultimately contributing to safeguarding state stability and preserving internal cohesion.

He added that the challenges confronting Arab countries are no longer traditional or limited in scope, but increasingly target the collective awareness of Arab youth amid escalating misinformation campaigns, accelerating information flows, and attempts to undermine national identity and weaken trust in institutions and states.

Al Alawi said that this reality requires repositioning the scouting movement within a comprehensive societal security framework, viewing it as a fundamental pillar for strengthening national cohesion, fostering responsibility and belonging, and building resilient societies capable of confronting extremism, disorder, and attempts to sow division within Arab communities.

He highlighted that Bahrain proceeds from a clear vision that true investment lies in building people, noting that this vision has been translated into practical policies that empower youth and support the scouting movement as an effective platform for preparing generations capable of addressing challenges and contributing to future-building. Al Alawi added that the rapid transformations and developments witnessed across the region necessitate redefining the role of youth and scouting institutions, not merely as platforms for activities, but as active national partners in consolidating stability, promoting awareness, and safeguarding the future of Arab nations.

He expressed hope that the meeting would mark a milestone in the union’s journey towards a more influential role in strengthening social cohesion, advancing joint Arab action, and preparing conscious generations capable of addressing challenges while preserving the security and stability of Arab states.
