Moroccan King Advocates for Development and Reform in Parliament Opening

Rabat:His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco presided over the opening of the first session of the first legislative year of the 12th Legislature, calling for major development strategies and the swift implementation of administrative de-concentration.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the King addressed Parliament, highlighting the need to enhance Morocco's status as a reliable economic power while ensuring economic growth aligns with social and territorial equity. He stressed the importance of Morocco's national identity and history while advocating for new strategies in key areas such as water, energy, food security, industrial development, the digital economy, and artificial intelligence.

The King urged the private sector to boost investment, create jobs, and expand exports, with a focus on prioritizing youth issues like education, training, and economic integration. He also emphasized addressing development challenges locally and advancing the de-concentration charter by transferring powers and resources from the central government to provinces and regions.

In terms of international relations, King Mohammed VI noted Morocco's role as a responsible partner but criticized the current migration cooperation framework as outdated. He highlighted challenges in cooperation with Spain due to legal issues affecting the repatriation of minors and false asylum seekers.

The King stated that international partnerships should be based on sovereignty and not influenced by pressure or threats. He announced plans to present a strategic vision document to Morocco’s partners, aiming to foster shared development, economic competitiveness, and regional stability.

Finally, the King reminded parliamentarians of their national duties and ethical commitments to the citizens.
