Manama: The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) announced the implementation of 3,152 inspection campaigns and visits during August 2026, which resulted in the detention of 77 violating and irregular workers. Additionally, 543 violators were deported as part of efforts to maintain a fair, stable, and competitive labour market.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the inspection campaigns and visits also led to the monitoring of several violations related to the provisions of various regulating laws, particularly the Labour Market Regulatory Authority and the Residency Laws in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Legal measures were taken in response to the observed violations.
The LMRA highlighted that 2,973 inspection visits were conducted across various shops in all governorates, along with 179 joint inspection campaigns. These included 93 campaigns in the Capital Governorate, 27 in the Muharraq Governorate, 27 in the Northern Governorate, and 32 in the Southern Governorate.
Several government entities participated in these campaigns, such as the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), the General Directorate of Crime Detection and Forensic Science, the respective Police Directorate of each Governorate, and the General Directorate of Civil Defense. Other participating bodies included the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, the Social Insurance Organization, the Electricity and Water Authority, and the National Health Regulatory Authority.
The LMRA emphasized the continuation of joint coordination with government agencies to intensify inspection campaigns across all governorates of the Kingdom. This is aimed at addressing any violations or practices that could negatively impact the stability and competitiveness of the labour market or harm the economic and social security of the Kingdom.
The Authority renewed its call on all society members to support government agencies' efforts in combating illegal labour practices. Violations can be reported via the electronic form on the authority's website www.lmra.gov.bh, by calling the authority's call centre at 17506055, or through the government's Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul).
