Manama: Senior officials from the executive and legislative branches recently convened to evaluate the progress of national housing programmes, including the Mazaya programme, reinforcing their mutual dedication to improving housing services for citizens.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the joint meeting was chaired by Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives; Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Shura Council Chairman; and Ghanem bin Fadhl Al Buainain, Minister of Shura Council and Representatives Council Affairs. Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, also participated in the discussions.
The meeting focused on expediting housing delivery, diversifying affordable housing options, and expanding financing schemes, in line with directives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Speaker Al Musallam praised the government's initiatives in advancing the housing sector, citing the reduction in monthly instalments under the Mazaya programme as a strategy to enhance family stability and improve the quality of life.
Chairman Al Saleh stressed the necessity for ongoing collaboration between the government and parliament to sustain social development and efficiently fulfill citizens' needs. Meanwhile, Al Buainain noted that regular joint meetings between both branches ensure national priorities remain aligned and accelerate the implementation of key projects.
Minister Al Rumaihi reaffirmed her ministry's commitment to providing innovative housing solutions and expanding access to ownership through public-private partnerships, in alignment with Bahrain's Government Action Plan 2023-2026.
