Manama:Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawda, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, participated in the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held in the United Arab Emirates.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Justice Minister stressed the significance of the congress in fostering international cooperation and coordination, as well as exchanging expertise and best practices in crime prevention, criminal justice, and maintaining the rule of law.
Minister Al Maawda pointed out that rapid technological advancements and cross-border challenges necessitate ongoing efforts to enhance international cooperation mechanisms and partnerships. This is essential for improving the efficiency of justice systems and their ability to confront emerging forms of crime and protect societies.
He also underscored the need to build on the congress's outcomes and the international experiences shared during its sessions. This effort aims to support the development of justice systems and uphold the rule of law, aligning with digital transformation and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.
The congress, which continues until October 1, addresses ways to strengthen international efforts in crime prevention and criminal justice, focusing on organized and transnational crime, cybercrime, and other emerging crime forms. Additionally, it emphasizes enhancing international cooperation and utilizing modern technologies and artificial intelligence to advance criminal justice systems.
