Manama: Judicial Inspection Directorate completes evaluation of criminal court performance. Judge Abdulrahman Al Sayed Mohammed Al Mualla, Head of the Judicial Inspection Directorate and Deputy at the Court of Cassation, announced the completion of the evaluation of criminal courts. This initiative is part of implementing the judicial quality standards approved by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the directorate reviewed over 3,400 rulings issued by criminal courts, with 90% being upheld on appeal. The performance evaluation reports assess the legal and administrative competencies of judges, focusing on quantitative and time efficiency in resolving cases, including the appeal indorsement rate. These reports are instrumental in identifying training needs to enhance judicial performance in collaboration with the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute (JLSI).
Al Mualla emphasized that this initiative is a component of the Judicial Development Programme, aimed at improving access to justice through specialized frameworks for evaluating judicial quality. These frameworks encompass various branches such as civil, commercial, labour, Shari'a, criminal, reorganization and bankruptcy, dispute resolution, liquidation, urgent cases, enforcement, and penal execution.
Furthermore, an open electronic system has been introduced on the SJC website, allowing the public to submit complaints to the Judicial Inspection Office. This development is part of efforts to strengthen and enhance communication with individuals involved in legal proceedings.
