HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister Amends Occupational Safety and Health Council Edict

Manama: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has issued Edict (5) of 2026, introducing amendments to certain provisions of Edict (2) of 2015 concerning the Occupational Safety and Health Council. This move follows a proposal from the Minister of Labour.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the new edict modifies Articles (2) and (3) of the previous edict. The amendments specify the formation of the Council under the leadership of the Minister of Labour, with the Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Relations at the Ministry of Labour serving as Vice Chairman. The Council will also include directors and representatives from various ministries and organizations, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Oil and Environment, Ministry of Health, Civil Service Bureau, General Organisation for Social Insurance, Bahrain Society for Occupational Health and Safety, General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions, and the Free Trade Union Federation of Bahrain, alongside two individual members, Abdulwahab Yousif Al Hawaj and Samra Abdulrahim Al Qassir.

The Vice Chairman is tasked with assuming the duties and powers of the Chairman in cases of absence or impediment. The term of membership for the Council is set at four years, with the possibility of renewal for additional terms. The edict mandates that ministers and relevant parties implement its provisions, which will be effective following its publication in the Official Gazette.
