Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received Dr. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan, at Gudaibiya Palace on the occasion of her visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain to participate in the 16th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. His Majesty the King commended the close bilateral relations and longstanding ties between the Kingdom and Azerbaijan, and emphasised the continued commitment to further developing them in all domains.
His Majesty the King welcomed the Azerbaijani Speaker and relayed greetings to His Excellency Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and wished the Azerbaijani people further progress and prosperity. His Majesty also expressed appreciation for HE President Aliyev's efforts and commitment to enhancing the close relations between the two countries.
HM the King highlighted the importance of such visits in enhancing and expanding cooperation between the legislative authorities of both countries, and in benefiting from shared experiences and expertise in legislative work in support of mutual goals and aspirations. His Majesty also commended the significant achievements of Bahrain's legislative authority across various areas, in support of the Kingdom's progress and the prosperity of its people.
On her part, Dr. Gafarova conveyed to His Majesty the greetings of HE President Aliyev and His Excellency's wishes for continued progress and prosperity for Bahrain and its people. The Azerbaijani Speaker expressed gratitude to HM the King for the warm welcome and hospitality, praising His Majesty's role in the development and growth of cooperation between the two countries at all levels, to the benefit of both peoples.
