HM King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi Discuss Regional Security and Bilateral Relations

Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today held a meeting with His Excellency Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and a number of ministers attended the meeting.

According to Bahrain News Agency, His Majesty welcomed the Egyptian President to the Kingdom, emphasizing the strong bilateral relations between the two nations and the shared commitment of their leaderships to maintain communication on regional developments. His Majesty praised Egypt's crucial role in the Middle East as a pillar of regional security and stability, highlighting Egypt's support for Bahrain under President El Sisi's leadership.

During the meeting, His Majesty and President El Sisi reviewed regional and international developments, exchanging views on efforts to address these issues. President El Sisi reiterated Egypt's condemnation of Iranian aggression against Bahrain, labeling it a violation of sovereignty and a threat to international peace.

The leaders emphasized the significance of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which condemns Iranian attacks against the Gulf Cooperation Council states and Jordan, demanding an end to provocations and threats. They also discussed the importance of preventing Iran's threats to disrupt navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global trade, stressing the need for international cooperation to safeguard maritime routes.

Both leaders affirmed their commitment to continued consultations on regional challenges, expressing pride in the historical ties between Bahrain and Egypt and their dedication to strengthening bilateral cooperation. The meeting concluded with a luncheon hosted by His Majesty in honor of President El Sisi and his delegation.
