Manama:His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has issued Decree (55) of 2026, appointing a new Chairman for the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA). This appointment follows a proposal by the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs and subsequent Cabinet approval.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the decree appoints Ahmed Abdulaziz Ismail Al Khayyat, who currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Urban Planning and Development Authority (UPDA), as the new Chairman of the EWA. Al Khayyat will hold the position with the rank of Undersecretary, succeeding Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed.
The Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs is tasked with implementing the provisions of the decree, which will take effect immediately upon issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette.
