Manama:In a significant move to support Bahrain's National Action Plan for carbon neutrality, the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) has participated in the inaugural 'National Tree Week'. This initiative, directed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, aligns with the environmental goals set by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. As part of the event, HE Khalid Humaidan, Governor of the CBB, planted a tree at the bank's premises, together with several officials from the institution.
According to Central Bank Of Bahrain, the Governor emphasized the value of 'National Tree Week' in fostering a culture of tree planting, enhancing environmental awareness, and promoting participation from both the community and institutions in environmental preservation efforts. These activities are integral to the Kingdom's broader strategy to achieve its environmental and sustainable development objectives.
The CBB's involvement reflects Bahrain's commitment to sustainability and the expansion of green spaces. It supports the afforestation goals of the Kingdom, which include doubling the tree population to 3.6 million by 2035. This effort is in line with Bahrain's obligations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, demonstrating a national dedication to addressing climate issues and promoting ecological resilience.
