HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman Attends Launch of Second Edition of Hawa Al Manama Festival

Manama: His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa attended the official launch of the second edition of the Hawa Al Manama festival, a significant event in the Celebrate Bahrain season, which will run until mid-January 2026. The festival aims to honor the rich heritage of the Manama Souq and highlight the cultural essence of Bahrain's capital.

According to Bahrain News Agency, His Highness emphasized the importance of local tourism events in promoting Bahrain's cultural and historical landscape. He noted that such events enhance Bahrain's appeal as a tourist destination by offering experiences that blend heritage, arts, entertainment, and culture. He further highlighted the contribution of these events to the sustainability of Bahrain's tourism sector, aligning with the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

His Highness reiterated Bahrain's dedication to preserving the historical and cultural identity of its buildings and cities, in line with the Royal Directives of His Majesty the King. An integrated plan to redevelop the historical area of the Manama Souq has been initiated to maintain its identity and bolster national identity while showcasing cultural diversity.

He also mentioned that the Hawa Al Manama festival mirrors the cultural diversity and historical heritage of Manama, a city that has been central to Bahrain's commercial and social development. His Highness praised the collaboration between the public and private sectors in supporting cultural initiatives, crucial for achieving Bahrain's tourism and economic objectives.

Her Excellency Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi, Minister of Tourism and Chairperson of the BTEA, stated that Hawa Al Manama is a flagship event of the fourth edition of Celebrate Bahrain. It plays a vital role in attracting visitors from the GCC and beyond. The festival offers immersive entertainment, retail experiences, and authentic Bahraini hospitality, supporting the broader tourism strategy to diversify offerings and increase overnight stays, further positioning Bahrain as a leading family-friendly destination.

The festival transforms the Manama Souq and its environs into a celebration of Bahrain's past, taking visitors on a nostalgic journey through time from the 1960s to the 1990s. It features events and experiences inspired by Bahrain's heritage, engaging more than 250 young Bahrainis and showcasing over 90 curated experiences.

The festival spans multiple iconic locations, offering a variety of attractions such as cultural libraries, escape rooms, and culinary programs. Highlights include Al Tawawish Square with its handicrafts and carnival games, Yateem Complex with a classic cars exhibition, and Al Fadhel Square's modern cuisine and sports courts. The Oriental Neighborhood offers vibrant galleries and spice markets, while the festival revives the cultural landmarks of Manama.

Visitors can enjoy unique experiences such as the Manama Theater, which features screenings of classic animated films, and the Kanoo Museum, which explores the city's cultural and business heritage. The festival also ensures a seamless visitor experience with ample parking and organized traffic management.

A number of senior officials attended the launch, marking the beginning of this expansive event that celebrates Bahrain's cultural and historical legacy.
