Abu dhabi: The Joint Ministerial Committee between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates convened in Abu Dhabi for its 13th session. The meeting was co-chaired by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, and Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bahraini delegation included Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Ambassador of Bahrain to the UAE, and Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among other ministry representatives and officials. The UAE delegation featured Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of Health, and Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif Al Nahyan, Deputy Minister of State, alongside senior officials from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed extended a welcome to Dr. Al Zayani and the Bahraini delegation, emphasizing the enduring relations between the two nations. He noted that the efforts of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan have made the bilateral relations a consistent source of pride. He highlighted the strategic partnership between the two countries, characterized by trust and ongoing consultation.
Sheikh Abdullah underscored the UAE's view of Bahrain as a strategic partner, vital for regional stability and development. He noted the shared commitment to enhance the strategic partnership and expand cooperation to meet the aspirations of both peoples. His Highness also pointed out the importance of collaboration in international forums to bolster the presence and positive impact of both countries globally.
Support from the UAE for Bahrain's non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council for 2026 and 2027 was reaffirmed, with Sheikh Abdullah pledging full support from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the country's UN mission. He expressed appreciation for the Bahraini delegation's role in strengthening bilateral relations.
Dr. Al Zayani reciprocated the sentiment, expressing pride in the strong ties between Bahrain and the UAE, supported by the leadership of both nations. He extended gratitude for the gesture of naming a park in Abu Dhabi after His Majesty the King of Bahrain, coinciding with Bahrain's National Day celebrations.
The meeting covered various aspects of bilateral cooperation, including political affairs, consultation on regional and international developments, and enhancing joint efforts in the Gulf Cooperation Council and the UN Security Council. Both sides reviewed the growth of relations across political, economic, commercial, and development fields, with a commitment to elevate cooperation to more comprehensive levels.
The session concluded with the signing of the joint minutes of the proceedings by the two ministers, marking another step in the ongoing collaboration between Bahrain and the UAE.
