HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Chairs 8th GSA Board Meeting

Manama: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), chaired the eighth meeting of the GSA Board. The meeting was attended by His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the GSA, along with other board members.

According to Bahrain News Agency, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their support of the sports sector, which has resulted in many achievements in 2025. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad also commended the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the SYCS, in encouraging and supporting Bahraini athletes to achieve their best results and performance levels.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad reviewed the regulations for organising and developing the licensing of commercial sports activities, as well as updates to the GSA website and the electronic licensing system (eGSA), reflecting the Authority's commitment to digital transformation in its operations. He also reviewed the talent selection programme in the Kingdom of Bahrain's schools, the proposed construction projects and systems, the proposal to develop the property of the Youth Centre Sports Hall in Juffair, and the plan to upgrade natural grass pitches, as part of a package of projects to provide an ideal sports environment for clubs and sports federations.

Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of the GSA, presented a comprehensive report on the governance programme, followed by other current matters. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Authority's executive team in implementing programmes and initiatives aimed at developing the sports sector, wishing for continued achievements and progress in the coming year to support the sustained growth of Bahrain's sporting landscape.
