Sakhir: His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister's Court and Chairman of the High Committee of the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC), attended the second round of the fifth edition of the Bahrain Turf Series, held at the club's racecourse in Al Raffa, Sakhir. The event was part of the 12th race of the 2025-2026 season and featured the Al Dana Cup, Al Riffa Cup, Southern Governorate Cup, Bahrain Bourse Cup, and Charles Russell Speechlys Cup.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the event was also attended by His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid bin Isa Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Supreme Council for Environment, Deputy Chairman of the REHC High Committee, and Member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, as well as His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate. A number of Their Highnesses and Excellencies, along with representatives of sponsoring entities, were present. The occasion attracted a strong public turnout and was held in a competitive atmosphere, accompanied by entertainment activities, marking the start of the 2026 racing events.
The winners of the race cups were announced during the event. His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa received the Bahrain Bourse Cup from Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Bourse, following the victory of 'Istanbul' from Al Adiyat Racing, which won first place in the third round. His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa presented the Southern Governorate Cup to the winning trainer, while Mazen Al Mardi, Partner at Charles Russell Speechlys, presented the firm's cup to the winning owner, Hasan Mefareh Al Ajmi.
As part of the Bahrain Turf Series, Yaser Al Sharifi, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK), awarded the Al Riffa Cup to the winning owner, Sayed Jawad Sayed Marzooq, in addition to presenting awards to the winning trainer and jockey of the seventh round. Meanwhile, His Highness Shaikh Sultan Al Deen bin Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa received the Al Dana Cup from Abdulkarim Turki, Advisor to Al Salam Bank, who also presented awards to the winning trainer and jockey of the eighth round.
The race evening saw strong competition among horses and jockeys, with several stables sharing victories. Bahraini horses achieved notable results, securing first place in both the third and fourth rounds of the Bahrain Turf Series.
