Manama: His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister's Court and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), chaired a board meeting where the strategic plan for 2026-2030 was sanctioned. The strategy is focused on bolstering the private sector's role in Bahrain's economic growth and development.
According to Bahrain News Agency, His Highness highlighted the necessity of effective collaboration between public and private sectors to implement national plans and advance comprehensive development, guided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He emphasized the importance of empowering national talent and expanding professional development opportunities, while supporting private enterprises through initiatives that contribute to economic growth. These efforts aim to enhance competitiveness, strengthen sustainable economic participation, and expand quality employment opportunities for Bahraini citizens.
Tamkeen's strategy centers on four main priorities: targeting areas with the highest economic return for Bahrain and its citizens, supporting career pathways that link skills with market opportunities, adopting innovative approaches to stimulate private sector growth and access to financing, and enhancing the Fund's operational effectiveness and efficiency while strengthening governance.
During the meeting, His Highness called for a review of all Tamkeen programmes to ensure alignment with the new strategic priorities and to maximize their impact on the private sector, in support of national economic growth. The Board extended congratulations to Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of Tamkeen, on her reappointment through a Royal Decree. She expressed gratitude for the Royal confidence and reiterated her commitment to achieving the Fund's objectives by supporting private sector development and advancing national talent. The Board also commended the team responsible for developing the new strategy, ensuring its alignment with current and future market needs.
The Board reviewed Tamkeen's key achievements in 2025, in line with performance indicators and strategic priorities. These include outcomes related to the Fund's core initiatives: supporting new entrants to the labour market, career development, and enterprise support. In 2025, Tamkeen provided employment and career development support to more than 40,000 Bahrainis and assisted over 8,400 enterprises through programmes aimed at business development and digitalisation.
