Health Ministry Participates in GCC Ceremony Honouring “Mu’azzaz” Project Contributors

Manama: The Ministry of Health participated in a ceremony honouring the Joint Committee for Healthy Cities and Health-Promoting Commercial Centres of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states participating in the “Mu’azzaz” initiative.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Wafa Ibrahim Al Sharbati, Director of Health Promotion at the Ministry of Health, delivered a speech during the event. She valued the support extended by the General Secretariat of the GCC and the Gulf Health Council (GHC) to the “Mu’azzaz” initiative. Dr. Al Sharbati commended the efforts of participating commercial centres in adopting the standards of the project, which reflect clear awareness and tangible backing for the initiatives of health ministries across the GCC states.

In 2025, a series of 18 field evaluations were conducted for commercial centres and malls across the GCC states. These assessments measured compliance with approved Gulf standards across six main pillars: promotion of healthy lifestyles, health awareness, safety and security, community partnership, cleanliness and environment, and quality of services provided to the community.

Three commercial centres in Bahrain participated in the initiative, all receiving the Diamond Level: The Avenues Bahrain, City Centre Bahrain, and Enma Mall. The “Mu’azzaz” initiative is one of the projects proposed by the Kingdom, represented by the Health-Promoting Commercial Centres Initiative, which was approved by the Committee of the Ministers of Health of the GCC states.
