Gulf Air Launches Extensive Green Project “Gulf Air Gardens” to Enhance Environmental Sustainability

Manama:Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has announced the launch of its largest green project, "Gulf Air Gardens," at the airline's headquarters. Spanning 2,900 square metres, the project is set to open in November 2026 and is part of the airline's commitment to environmental sustainability and Bahrain's efforts to expand green spaces.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the "Gulf Air Gardens" initiative is a significant transformation of the airline's headquarters into an integrated green space featuring a variety of trees and plants. This development aims to serve as an environmental landmark and provide a natural retreat for employees, promoting a healthy and inspiring workplace environment.

The project was inaugurated with the planting of the garden's first tree, marking the commencement of landscaping activities. These activities will continue over the coming weeks, aligning with the development schedule to ensure the garden's readiness by November. The garden will symbolize the national carrier's identity and its commitment to the environment and community.

The launch of "Gulf Air Gardens" coincides with National Tree Week, celebrated from October 26 to 31, involving government entities, private-sector organizations, and various societal segments. This collaboration is part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's ongoing efforts to enhance environmental awareness and promote tree-planting initiatives, supporting the National Afforestation Plan to reach 3.6 million trees by 2035 and aiming for carbon neutrality by 2060.

Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer Martin Gauss emphasized the project as an investment in both the environment and the people. He expressed pride in launching the garden during National Tree Week, reinforcing the airline's dedication to sustainability and reflecting its values as a responsible national carrier.

In addition, Gulf Air's sustainability efforts include joining the International Air Transport Association's (IATA) CO2 Connect platform in June 2026, providing operational data for accurate CO2 emissions calculations. The airline remains committed to introducing environmentally responsible initiatives that contribute to Bahrain's sustainability goals.
